Steve Yanoviak Instructor

Steve Yanoviak grew up in the suburbs of Pennsylvania and Florida, and has been interested in biology since early childhood.  After obtaining his degree in Entomology from Auburn University, Steve studied the ecology of stream-dwelling insects for both his master’s degree at Purdue University and his doctorate at the University of Oklahoma.  His focus on tropical systems, especially ants of the rain forest canopy, began during his doctoral research and was enriched by postdoctoral assignments in Panama, Costa Rica, and Peru.
Steve’s research on the gliding behavior and parasites of canopy ants was published in top scientific journals and continues to receive international media attention.  He currently resides in the US and is on the faculty of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he teaches Entomology, Invertebrate Zoology, Animal Behavior, and Tropical Ecology.  When not in the rain forest observing ants, Steve enjoys running, reading, and rock climbing.
