Travel Channel
Through the Global Explorers Compass Program, Travel Channel Media sponsors DC students and educators on expeditions.
Across television and the many growing digital media platforms, Travel Channel's content entertains the consumer's urge to experience all that the world has to offer.
Through its programs, Global Explorers brings that urge to life by providing life-changing and immersive travel experiences to students and educators.
Recognizing the substantial overlap in their missions, Global Explorers and Travel Channel have partnered to create the Global Explorers Compass program. This program provides middle school and high school students in the D.C. area, who might otherwise not have the opportunity, the chance to experience first-hand the life-changing lessons that one realizes through the power of travel.
Through the Compass program, students participate in a retreat at Travel Channel's headquarters where they obtain valuable lessons in video production and editing prior to their Global Explorers’ travel adventure. The students then utilize their video-making knowledge to capture their own travel stories and share them throughout their communities. For these students, catching the “travel bug” often proves to be the catalyst for further learning and exploration.
