Meet Our Staff

Danielle Thuringer Global Explorers Intern

Danielle grew up in South Dakota where she developed her sense of adventure and cultivated her love of animals and nature on the family farm. Always knowing that she wanted a career making a difference in the lives of animals and the environment, Danielle graduated with a Biology degree from Colorado State University in 2008.  After graduation, Danielle set off on a journey of self-realization to Southeast Asia.  She obtained her TEFL certificate in Thailand before settling down in Hanoi, Vietnam where she spent her time teaching English, taking care of feral dogs and exploring the country through the eyes of the locals.  Deeply touched by the people and the vast beauty surrounding her, along with the exposure to extreme poverty, inhumane treatment of animals and the destruction of natural resources there, she was left searching for an outlet to inspire change.  For her, that outlet was Global Explorers.

In addition to her travel experience, Danielle has a diverse background which spans from work on political campaigns to the Denver Zoo.  She has also been a long term volunteer at the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her pets, being outdoors and is preparing to begin her master’s degree in conservation biology.
