Jameyanne

My name is Jameyanne. I’m fifteen and a freshman at Concord High School in NH. One of my friends was applying for this trip and he told me about it. I thought it sounded like an excellent opportunity. I applied because of this, this opportunity to learn more about myself, this chance to push my physical, make long-lasting friendships, and do something that most people only get to dream about. Out of all of these things, one of the most important things I want to get out of this trip is that I want to learn about myself, what I can do, and what I can’t. I understand that we all have limits, but I firmly believe in pushing them.

I work very hard in school, have lots of friends, and try my best in everything I do. I never let my blindness bother me. It’s always there and there’s noting I can do about it so I might as well work with what I’ve got. I answer kids’ questions with smiling patience, even when a little common sense would have stopped them from asking at all (my favorite so far is “So you use sign language?” to which I respond “No, I can’t see that either.”) In my free time I enjoy reading, writing, hanging out with friends, and playing my clarinet in the school marching band.
