art / preservation Balance
By .
Tangible and dynamic art can invoke the need for action in the viewer. This mobile represents our night skies and the necessary balance between human advancement and the preservation of the world. The natural stars are brilliant in the sky while the twisted darkened stars represent the void created by light pollution. The tree represents the balance of nature. The people and the base represent the world’s responsibility to the present and the future preservation of our night skies. Upon viewing this mobile, I hope the viewer realizes the imbalance created by light pollution and how that void affects the person who cannot see the stars very clearly. The action I hope to invoke is one of individual change by making us more aware of the impact of light pollution as well as speaking out to our community of the importance of protecting our night skies.
