Few things can have a greater impact on the life of a young student than an international immersion experience. Global Explorers brings these rich, eye-opening, and transformative experiences to middle and high school students from around the world. Emphasizing science, culture, service and leadership our programs educate young leaders to respect and appreciate the diversity of the world in which we live. Global Explorers is a nonprofit organization (501)(c)(3) committed to providing a program that is educational, fun, supportive, safe and community-oriented.
Working well with teachers is at the core of what we are about at Global Explorers. It is a part of our commitment to enable students and teachers to have the very best international experience possible. Few international travel programs offer the level of support for traveling school groups that we provide. Our program is designed to be user-friendly, flexible and extremely supportive for the teachers who enroll a student group in our program. We provide assistance every step of the way in whatever manner is appropriate for each teacher’s individualized needs. We do this because our talented staff itself consists of very experienced educators who understand teacher needs, resources and areas of expertise. This will undoubtedly be a learning experience for you as a teacher.
Our Core Disciplines emphasize a comprehensive educational experience focused on science, culture, leadership and service. Each piece of our program concentrates on hands-on field research, meaningful service projects, authentic cultural experiences and applied leadership lessons. Our Administrative Guide contains all of the logistical information necessary for teachers to have a successful program. This Guide includes all of the necessary travel forms, health and safety information, frequently asked questions, handouts for parents, tips on selling the trip to a School Board, and much more. We consider it to be the ABCs of the Global Explorers program. Click here to see a sample of what’s inside the Administrative Guide.
Our Discovering Classroom Earth Curriculum helps prepare students for their international experience before they travel with a series of ten hands-on, age-appropriate and user-friendly lessons. The two-hour lessons explore everything from culture to language and travel tips to leadership skills. Your workshop fee includes this curriculum as well as staff support in implementing it with your participants. The lessons are designed to be flexible and easily adaptable to various school schedules depending on your group’s needs. Click here to see a sample lesson.
Our Service Leadership Program Guide walks you through the simple steps to implement a powerful service project in your community following your travel experience. Again, our staff is there to support you every step of the way! Click here to learn about our Service Leadership Philosophy.
Finally, Safety is a number one concern at Global Explorers. You and your students entrust your lives to our care and we take that responsibility seriously. We take a preventative approach towards safety. That’s why we spend so much time preparing students and our staff beforehand for the kinds of experiences they are going to have while traveling. Moreover, our staff has many years of experience traveling internationally with students. While traveling abroad, students will always be within minutes to a few hours of excellent medical care. We work very closely with our in-country partners to provide the most up-to-date policies and procedures to deal with unexpected emergencies. And our staff medical training and first-aid kits are developed in consultation with a family physician who specializes in travel health.
