Beth Vineyard - Program
Coordinator
Beth grew up in a small town in Southwest
Michigan where she has fond memories of swimming in Lake Michigan,
fishing for crayfish in the local 'crick' and running around on
her family-owned, 80-acre farm. In her adult life, she has translated
those early childhood passions into helping protect open spaces
and natural areas, having spent the last six years working to preserve
wetlands in Michigan and rainforests around the world.
Beth earned her B.S. in Biology from Grand Valley
State University (GVSU) in 1998. While attending GVSU, she participated
in a field course in Costa Rica where she studied Tropical Rainforest
Ecology. Exploring the rainforest was by far one of Beth's most
treasured life experiences; she considers it a crucial stepping
stone in her passion for the outdoors, nature and her love of birding.
From 1999 to 2002, Beth served as the Assistant
Program Director for Children's Environmental Trust Foundation,
International (CET). She also worked as a CET Workshop Director
in the Peruvian Amazon for two summers. Through her experience at
CET, Beth traveled extensively with students and fell in love with
sharing the cultural and natural diversity of the world with them.
Beth is knowledgeable, insightful and very experienced at working
with teachers and students as they prepare for, experience and process
international immersion experiences.
Beth has two dogs, Wally and Maddie, and two fish.
She enjoys playing softball every chance she can get (and even has
a few scars from sliding to prove it) and has a deep desire to some
day become an actress! Well ... maybe not a famous one!
