Angie Fuhrmann Education Intern
Always on the move, Angie spent her early years growing up in various western states before moving to Mexico for a year during her undergraduate studies at Northern Arizona University. Studying anthropology and Spanish, she was able to immerse herself in the culture and tackle the language while exploring the diversity of the country and its neighbors. During her undergraduate studies she also spent the summers as a naturalist guide at Grand Canyon National Park and learned the value of education within travel.
Upon completion of her bachelor’s degree, she spent five months working in Nicaragua as a development intern for the Foundation for Sustainable Development. It was there that she cultivated her interest in local and indigenous knowledge within sustainable development and worked on projects concerning deforestation, sanitation issues, and the creation of an environmental-archaeological reserve. Angie is now studying within Colorado State University’s graduate program in Anthropology with a focus in International Development and hopes to return to Latin America for her master’s research.
In her free time she enjoys backpacking, canyoneering, playing soccer, reading and listening to music.
