The Global Explorers Internship Program

We treat our interns as full staff members, giving you real responsibilities and providing concrete professional skills. A few highlights of any Global Explorers internship include:

* Travel internationally!

* Help build the capacities of a young and growing nonprofit organization

* Learn about incorporating science, culture, leadership and service into international travel

* Participate with an enthusiastic and inspiring staff and organizational culture

Intern Position Requirements (Ideal candidates would have the following characteristics):

First and foremost, we want travel to inspire you.  In addition we look for: A self-motivated initiator who can work well on his/her own; Detail-oriented; Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; Experience with marketing, development and/or fundraising; Experience working in a leadership/teaching role with middle and high school students; Academic experience in natural sciences, business, social science; International travel experience; Public speaking and outreach experience.

Summer 2010 Internship

We seek two summer interns to assist with a curriculum development process at Global Explorers. Past experience working with youth ages 12-21 in an educational setting required. A passion for education a must. Minimum 15 hours a week commitment June 1-August 15th. Application Deadline: March 1, 2010.

Fall 2010- Spring 2011 Internships

We are looking for interns to fill positions from September 1-June 1 with some flexibility in terms of starting and end dates. The position requires a minimum of 15 hours per week and is unpaid, though it may lead to paid work. It includes a FREE SUMMER 2011 TRAVEL EXPERIENCE with Global Explorers. Interns must work from our home office in Fort Collins, CO located in downtown Fort Collins.

We have the following internship specializations available starting in September of 2010:

Education Intern

The education intern will assist Global Explorers with the educational content of its programs. This internship has a strong emphasis on educational content and is well suited to someone with an interest and/or background in teaching, formally or informally.

Marketing & Outreach

Gain AUTHENTIC marketing experience with Customer Relationship Management, Internet Marketing, SEO, Direct Marketing, Conference Exhibiting and Presenting, Promotions, and Publicity / Public Relations. Global Explorers is seeking an intern who is interested in helping us with the development and implementation of marketing strategies for our nonprofit organization.

Program Support

Learn about all aspects of nonprofit management through our general program internship. You'll gain exposure to fundraising, marketing, education and much more. This is the jack-of-all trades internship - well suited to someone who likes to dabble in lots of different tasks.

Leading the Way

Help design, organize and implement our programs combining students with and without disabilities. You’ll work directly with participating students and their families as you plan preparatory curriculum lessons, our retreat, the Leading the Way Expeditions and the follow-up Service Leadership Project.

Education

The education intern will assist Global Explorers with the educational content of its programs. This internship has a strong emphasis everything from curriculum to program development and is well suited to someone with an interest in teaching, formally or informally.

Full-Time Positions

Currently, we have no full-time positions open at Global Explorers.

Summer International Field Workshop Coordinators

Join our team of summer field workshop coordinators! Typically, we begin looking for summer staff in December and hire positions by February. Field Workshop Coordinators are responsible for helping share our educational journeys with our students. Staff teach, manage the safety of the group, deal with travel logistics and much more. Positions may last the length of one trip (10-20 days) or last the entire summer. Check back in December for postings.

Volunteers

We are always looking for volunteers and interns to help support our work. Volunteer opportunities can include one-day projects or a longer time commitment. Internships require a minimum three month commitment at 15 hours a week. Contact if you are interested in volunteering!
