Blind/ Sighted Team Summits Mexican Volcano
November 16, 2009; Mexico City — An unlikely Global Explorers group of young adults from Mexico, the United States and Canada are celebrating a successful summit of Mexico’s 3rd highest volcano Iztaccíhuatl (5,230m; 17,159ft)! As never done before, this multicultural team of blind, visually impaired and sighted participants shattered many expectations of the capabilities of a determined spirit. In addition to the climb, the team also participated in VIP events featuring the release of the Spanish translation of Erik Weihenmayer’s memoir Touch the Top of the World and the Mexican premiere of his film Blindsight.
